The Cleveland franchise is one of the eight charter members of the American League, founded in 1901, and the navy, red and white identity it wears today has been running for more than a century. Two World Series titles - 1920 and 1948 - hang on that history.
Larry Doby and the 1948 Title
In 1947 Larry Doby became the first Black player in the American League, arriving just months after Jackie Robinson broke the barrier in the National League. A year later his home run decided Game 4 of the 1948 World Series, the swing that put Cleveland two games up in a series it would win in six. Hall of Fame ace Bob Feller headlined that staff, and the 1948 club remains the last Cleveland team to win it all.
Why the Name Changed
The club played as the Indians from 1915. On July 23, 2021 it unveiled a new name - the Guardians - and took the field under it from the 2022 season. The colours, the block "C" and the city did not change. What changed was the word on the jersey.
The 2026 Club
Cleveland has spent September in the middle of the American League Central race, leaning on a deep rotation and one of the best bullpens in baseball. On September 19 the Guardians beat the Athletics 12-6 to stay on top of the division, with Angel Martinez homering from both sides of the plate.
Why Stitched Beats Printed
Printed graphics sit on the surface of the fabric and crack, peel and fade over a season. Stitched tackle-twill lettering and numbers are sewn through the mesh, so the crest keeps its raised edge, the outline stays crisp and the colours hold. Every Guardians jersey in our collection is fully stitched - names, numbers, the team marks, the sleeve patches and the league detailing included.
